In this workshop, KOMA Elektronik co-founder Christian Zollner will introduce you to SMD (surface mount device) soldering. We will touch on different techniques of SMD soldering starting with the basics: We will go from resistors and capacitors (2 pins), over transistors (3- to 5-pin) to chips in SOIC and QFN packages (32+ pins). We will also look into desoldering various SMD components, common pitfalls and cool solder tricks. This will be as funny as a soldering workshop can be.
We will solder a dummy SMD-kit that is intended on getting you ready to solder your own SMD projects. If you have something you would like to solder instead of the learning kit, please just bring it along.
Please bring: Your favourite soldering iron if you have one. If not, we can provide one for you. Please bring your favourite set of SMD tweezers as well if you have any. If not, we can provide it for you.
Note: Please let us know if you can’t make it max. 24 hours before the workshop, otherwise, we can’t reimburse you.
